Hat tip to Cheesehead TV for this one, who pointed out some quotes from Mike McCarthy on the status of injured players Derek Sherrod, Alex Green and Andrew Quarless. The quotes come from a Journal-Sentinel article by Tom Silverstein a couple of days ago. How I missed a Silverstein article with interesting quotes from McCarthy, I'll never know. Sometimes it is just not your week.
Sherrod suffered a double leg break against the Kansas City Chiefs in December, while Alex Green tore his ACL in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings. With Ryan Grant unlikely to return to the team and Chad Clifton's future uncertain, both are going to enter training camp with the chance to win much bigger roles in the team.
McCarthy's quotes on both make it sound like they're getting healthy. Quotes after the jump.
Here's what he had to say on Sherrod:
"He's there (at the facility) every day. He looks better every time I see him. They're projecting probably training camp, so we'll know more when we get to OTAs. Hopefully, he can get out there in June and do something."
And Green:
"Alex looks really good. Just seeing him in the weight room every day, he looks like he's really progressing ... I feel good about Alex."
Unfortunately, things aren't as clear on Quarless. He tore his ACL in Week 13, and due to the timing of the injury, he's got a long way to go before he can get back to high-level football workouts. He's a great run blocker and has improved as a pass catcher. Hopefully we'll have much better news on him when training camp rolls around.
