Green Bay Packers PUP List: Desmond Bishop Joins Obvious Candidates, Youngsters

The Green Bay Packers PUP list is out just ahead of training camp, and there's one surprise inclusion. Based on the headline, you've probably already figured it out. Inside linebacker Desmond Bishop will not be practicing tomorrow, because he's physically unable to perform.

I thought that was curious, since we haven't heard anything about Bishop picking up an injury in minicamp or OTAs. Turns out, that's because Bishop didn't pick up the injury at minicamp or OTAs.

If you're unfamiliar with the common acronyms being used here, that's the "non-football injury" list. Bishop recently got married, and Rob Demovsky jokingly speculated that Bishop got injured on his honeymoon.

All jokes aside, we have no idea how Bishop got injured or how serious his injury is. I assume that we would have heard about it from Mike McCarthy today if it was very serious. Bishop should still be in town tomorrow, even though he can't play, and I'm sure he'll give the media an answer on why he's on the NFI list. D.J. Smith should play with the first team defense in his absence tomorrow.

We knew that Andrew Quarless, Derek Sherrod and John Kuhn all failed their physicals and wrote about it earlier today. The Frank Zombo injury could be lingering from earlier in the summer as well. Alex Green is not on that list, which is a good sign, but that does not necessarily mean that he is fit enough to practice tomorrow.
