With the 29th pick in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft (#61 overall), the Green Bay Packers have selected Eddie Lacy. The Alabama Crimson Tide running back had a brilliant season while winning the national championship and was projected as a first rounder by some, but medical issues caused him to drop. Some outlets even mocked Lacy to the Packers at 26th overall, but Ted Thompson obviously thought he could get him later in the draft, and it turns out he was right.
We'll see whether or not Lacy is healthy coming into camp, and of course, how durable he is over the long term. But if the Packers' medical staff told Thompson and Mike McCarthy that they can take him, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully he proves all the doubters wrong when it comes to his health and turns into the feature back that the Packers have been missing for nearly a decade.
We'll have more on the selection as the evening goes on. The Packers' draft board is below.
