The 49ers released their injury report this afternoon and whoa, nelly, look what we have here. If you were hoping to see anything substantial with any of San Francisco's key players, keep dreaming. Here's the full list:
Player | Injury | Friday Practice Status | Game Status |
ILB Navorro Bowman | Shoulder | Full | Probable |
CB Tarell Brown | Shoulder | Limited | Probable |
TE Garrett Celek | Foot | Full | Probable |
S Dashon Goldson | Shoulder | Limited | Probable |
LB Tavares Gooden | Ribs | Full | Probable |
LB Clark Haggans | Shoulder | Limited | Probable |
G Mike Iupati | Shoulder | Full | Probable |
RB Bruce Miller | Shoulder | Limited | Probable |
CB Carlos Rogers | Knee | Full | Probable |
OLB Aldon Smith | Shoulder | Limited | Probable |
DL Justin Smith | Elbow, Triceps | Limited | Probable |
DL Will Tukuafu | Neck | Limited | Probable |
ILB Patrick Willis | Shoulder | Full | Probable |
Yes, that's right, the 49ers have 13 players (that's just short of 25% of their active roster) listed as probable. That list includes eight starters, seven on defense, and eight players listed with shoulder injuries. This report reads like the Packers and their hamstring injuries all season long. Ultimately, seven players were limited in practice all week, including in the 49ers' final practice today, while the other six were full participants.
I guess the message here is that both teams will have all of their key players on the field. With Jordy Nelson and Justin Smith the key questions will be whether they'll be completely effective and if they can avoid aggravating their injuries.
Is it Saturday night yet?
