It's time for everyone's favorite weekly award, the Working Class Hero of the Week. Unsurprisingly, three of this week's nominees are defensive players. The defense did an excellent job of keeping Adrian Peterson bottled up and making sure Joe Webb's athleticism didn't become a factor after the first drive. I've also thrown in an offensive lineman.
The candidates:
OLB Dezmon Moses: It's been a mostly up and down season for Dez, but considering he's a rookie free agent who wasn't expected to play a ton in his first season, he's been impressive. Once again, he stepped up and performed admirably in a big game, recording four tackles and knocking down a surprising three passes.
OLB Erik Walden: He lost containment and gave up a big play on the first Vikings drive of the game, but corrected that mistake and did an excellent job of keeping containment for the rest of the game. His three tackles don't tell the story; he had a sack and two tackles for a loss, and frequently forced Adrian Peterson inside with his positioning.
DB Charles Woodson: In his first game back from injury, Woodson made a big difference with his tackling, as well as his presence. While this stuff is all subjective, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who didn't think the Packers' defense looked more confident on Saturday than they have all season.
OG Josh Sitton: Did you see how often Sitton was hauling ass downfield to make blocks on short passes and outside runs? His work rate was incredibly impressive and he had a lot to do with the way the Packers moved the ball.
