Packers OLB Nick Perry Returns from Broken Foot

Less than two weeks after a broken foot sidelined Nick Perry "indefinitely," the Packers OLB has returned to practice.

The tide seems to be turning on the rash of injuries in Green Bay.

Less than two weeks after enduring a foot fracture that was to keep him out "indefinitely," Packers' outside linebacker Nick Perry has returned to practice. Perry's level of participation in practice is unknown as only a portion of practice was open to the media, but it's a surprising development regardless.

It's possible that the coaching staff too is bewildered by Perry's return. Just this past Wednesday, head coach Mike McCarthy estimated a return take "a couple of weeks."

Before anyone pencils Perry's name into the starting lineup, it's important to note that the Packers take a very conservative approach with injuries. Given the number of practices Perry has missed, a more likely target is November 4th against the Bears.

The Packers are depending on Perry to be healthy for December and the playoffs. Before his foot injury, Perry had strung together the best stretch of games in his career. If Perry can maintain that level of performance -- three sacks and two forced fumbles over two games -- it will go a long way towards making the Packers contenders for the NFC crown and perhaps the Super Bowl.
