Packers vs. Giants Game Balls: Tramon Williams Is Our Player of the Week

In an ugly game like yesterday's, it can be tough to identify which players helped out their teammates the most. However, despite a 27-13 loss to the Giants, the Packers did have a few players who put up impressive performances. My vote goes to the one who stepped up in place of an injured teammate, but feel free to let your voice be heard in the poll and comments.

OFFENSE

LG Josh Sitton

The Packers' Pro Bowl guard was back to his normal performance level on Sunday, throwing a clean sheet in pass protection and making a few nice blocks in the run game. One of Sitton's best plays was on a screen pass to John Kuhn, when the lineman got out in front of the play and laid a great block on a Giant defender to open up the edge for Kuhn. Unfortunately, his block went for naught, as Kuhn cut inside the block instead of outside and was stopped almost immediately.

Since his rough week 1 game against the 49ers, Sitton has been playing at an All-Pro level week in and week out.

WR Jordy Nelson

The stats tell the story on Nelson this week, as he caught eight passes (on nine targets) for 117 yards from Scott Tolzien. He made a few acrobatic catches, but did a good job of getting some separation from the Giants' defenders.

DEFENSE

CB Tramon Williams

The Packers' veteran corner has been playing up to his contract lately, and especially over the past two games. Williams was very active near the line of scrimmage on Sunday, making multiple one-on-one tackles of receivers to keep them from gaining extra yardage. While Williams gave up five receptions on his seven targets, he recorded the team's only turnover on the day with an interception in the second quarter and in general limited the receivers in his area to minimal, if any, impact.

A big day from #38 was necessary with Sam Shields out, and Williams delivered. Also, for anyone who's counting, Williams hasn't missed a tackle in the last five games.

SPECIAL TEAMS

K Mason Crosby

Crosby has been put on the short end of the stick in our game balls a few times, but not this week. His right leg kept the Packers in a one-score game through the first two and a half quarters, and his 57-yard attempt at the end of the first half was perfectly hit and would have been good from over 60 yards. His kickoffs were also solid, with one touchback and one hit to the goal line with such hang time that the returner was taken down easily at the ten-yard line.
