Packers Place Casey Hayward on Injured Reserve, Activate Jerel Worthy and Sean Richardson

We told you today about one corner who would be sent to injured reserve earlier today; we now know about another one and which players are taking their places on the active roster.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

Earlier this morning, we found out that the Packers had planned to send cornerback James Nixon to injured reserve, and speculated that defensive end Jerel Worthy or safety Sean Richardson might be brought off the Physically Unable to Perform list onto the active roster.

News just broke that both players are being added to the active roster, and the Packers are sending another injured cornerback to injured reserve: Casey Hayward.

Richardson will likely take Nixon's spot on special teams, which is an area where he was highly effective last season before suffering a neck injury. Worthy will likely play in sub packages as a pass-rushing lineman along with Mike Daniels and Datone Jones.

Hayward's second NFL season has been marred by his hamstring injury, which caused him to miss the first six games of the year before reinjuring the muscle two weeks ago against the Eagles. He recorded eight total tackles in three games this season but had no interceptions or passes defended, a big step down from his six picks and staggering 21 passes defended from his rookie year.

Hopefully Hayward will be able to return healthy for OTAs next season and he should be in the mix at corner next season.
