Packers Injury Report: Barclay, Shields, Perry Return to Practice Tuesday

Green Bay is actually getting bodies back on the field, and might have all their starters back on the field (minus Aaron Rodgers and the players on IR, of course).

The Green Bay Packers got some welcome news on the injury front on Tuesday as they officially began preparations for Thursday's game in Detroit against the Lions. You know by now that Aaron Rodgers returned to practice today, but just as importantly are the droves of other injured Packers who were working in practice today for the first time in a while.

In fact, all the primary starters who aren't on Injured Reserve were practicing today, with only three key players limited. That has to be a record for the 2013 season, right? Anyway, here's the full injury report:

DID NOT PARTICIPATE
TE Brandon Bostick, RB Johnathan Franklin, ILB Jamari Lattimore, DE C.J. Wilson

LIMITED PARTICIPATION
OL Don Barclay, OLB Nick Perry, QB Aaron Rodgers

FULL PARTICIPATION
DL Johnny Jolly, OLB Mike Neal, T Marshall Newhouse, CB Sam Shields, G Josh Sitton

Shields' return is much-anticipated, and he will likely be tested by Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson this week. Having him back will help the depth at cornerback, though, as Tramon Williams will likely slide inside in the nickel package when Davon House comes on the field and Micah Hyde can return to his role as the dime back.

Perry and Barclay were limited, but if they can play they would bring a nice boost to the defensive front seven and offensive line, respectively. Mike Neal hasn't been impressive in Perry's absence, and was struggling even more when both Perry and Clay Matthews were out. Marshall Newhouse has predictably struggled at right tackle, so getting Barclay back should help keep Matt Flynn or Scott Tolzien upright.

Jolly's return should help the front seven as well, especially in the run game. His presence also likely will let Mike Daniels concentrate his efforts on pass-rushing downs and will hopefully help him be more effective.

Keep it here for continuing Packers coverage as we get ready for Thanksgiving Day.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This post originally did not list Bostick, Franklin, Lattimore, and Wilson on the injury report. We apologize for the error.
