Mike McCarthy Post-Game: No Diagnosis on Aaron Rodgers' Shoulder

While there's plenty to discuss in the wake of the Green Bay's 27-20 loss to division rival Chicago, the only concern for Packers brass this evening is the long-term outlook for Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers lost their starting quarterback on the second to last play of the game's opening drive when Bears defensive end Shea McClellin slammed Rodgers' left shoulder into the turf on a sack.

When asked about the nature of Rodgers' injury during post-game media availability, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy stated that the team has yet to establish "an exact diagnosis."

On the surface, this appears to be a stonewalling effort by McCarthy. After the Patriots, Green Bay is perhaps the most secretive team in the NFL when it comes to injury transparency. Certainly, injury news regarding the Packers' most important player would garner a heightened level of security.

However, it's just as likely that the Packers haven't yet established the exact severity or nature of Rodgers' shoulder injury. The team will take the next few days to administer tests and determine what they're dealing with, with an update likely coming later in the week.
