Packers Sign Free Agent Cornerback Loyce Means

The Packers have signed another free agent! Unfortunately, you've probably never heard of him. Fortunately, he won't cost the Packers much of anything if he doesn't make the team.

What is a Loyce Means?

Apparently that is the name of a free agent cornerback that Ted Thompson plans to sign to a contract on Monday. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that Means will fly into Green Bay to take a physical and if all goes well he will sign a contract that day to become the newest member of the Packers.

Again, I ask: what is a Loyce Means?

As the Journal-Sentinel notes, Means played cornerback at the University of Houston and spent part of the 2011 football season in the Canadian Football League. Means reportedly ran a 40-yard dash in under 4.4 seconds at a workout, which was what brought him to the Packers' attention. He also had at least one pass breakup in practice with the Buffalo Bills in 2011 (which you can see photo evidence of above).

Means would obviously be a long-shot to make the Packers' roster, given the depth currently available at the position; however, he will be an interesting prospect to watch in camp to see if he earns a position on the practice squad.
