Open Thread: What's the Story Behind Your Screen Name?

Tell us why you are who you say you are.

Matt Ludtke

It is admittedly a slow weekend. With that in mind, we decided to open up a discussion about the Acme Packing Company community. The question on our minds is this:

Why did you choose your screen name?

In the comments, we invite you to tell us a story about how your screen name came to be. Whether it's a Homeric epic of incredible proportions or just a quick one-sentence blurb that explains it, we'd love to hear it. We're sure that there is a wide variety of reasons and explanations out there, so whether it is a childhood nickname, something that describes your fandom, or any other explanation, feel free to let us know.

I'll start it off with a brief explanation of why I'm called Tex. No, I am not from Texas, and up until about two years ago, I had never even been to Texas. However, with a last name like Western, it's not hard to imagine how the nickname came about. I was a band nerd in high school, and one of the other, older band members who was a friend of mine decided that I needed to be known as Tex Western. It stuck, and I carried it with me to college and beyond.

It's not a particularly entertaining story, but it at least explains a little bit about myself. So: what's your story?

Note: this idea was brought to us by the SBNation Titans blog, Music City Miracles. Thanks for the suggestion, guys!
