Before today's practice kicked off the second week of the team's Organized Team Activities, the Green Bay Packers made a signing, bringing aboard safety David Fulton. The rookie free agent went undrafted and played at Division II Chowan University, located in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Here is the Packers' full press release:
#Packers have signed S David Fulton of Chowan University (N.C.): http://t.co/QjJHtzhwpi
— Green Bay Packers (@packers) May 28, 2013
As a member of the Hawks, Fulton recorded four interceptions in 2012, including one returned for a touchdown, as well as nine passes defended. He recorded 39 total tackles over ten games, including five tackles for loss and one sack. Fulton also fielded a few punts and a kickoff this past season. (Stats courtesy of GoCUHawks.com)
Fulton was assigned number 40 and joins a young and relatively thin group of safeties, which consists of only Morgan Burnett, Jerron McMillian, M.D. Jennings, Sean Richardson, and Chaz Powell. Fulton will likely need to show some ability on special teams to make a run at a roster spot, but with the lack of depth at the position he may have a faster track onto the roster than some undrafted rookies at other positions.
We'll have news and notes from today's practice coming up this afternoon.
