The Packers made some news early this morning by waiving quarterback Matt Brown. That and more are here in today's news recap.

One day. There is only one more day until the Green Bay Packers report for training camp. That said, there was some mildly surprising news overnight, which cuts the Packers' roster down to 87 players (and down from four quarterbacks to three). As we wait and wind down for one more day until real football news and practices begin, here are the last big stories from around the Packer-covering world.

Reportedly, Matt Brown suffered an injury working out this off-season and wasn't going to be able to practice through most of training camp. As such, the Packers waived him instead of holding a roster spot for a QB who won't make the team.

I completely agree with Adam...Datko could end up a solid backup, a camp casualty, or anything in between.

Jolly is one of the guys listed...I wouldn't classify him as "young" but I definitely think he needs a huge training camp to make the roster. I was one of the few who left him off when we made our roster predictions.

In case you've forgotten, the shareholder's meeting is today, and will be broadcast on the internet for those of us who can't attend in person.

The Packers rank 5th because of the following: "Two giant leaps spearheaded Green Bay's annual top 10 ranking: (1) the breakout year enjoyed by Randall Cobb, and (2) the show that Casey Hayward put on in his debut."
