Packers Injury Report: Harris Shut Down, Four PUP Listers Await Their Fates

The Packers are yet again a walking M*A*S*H unit as training camp wraps up, and they have several tough decisions to make today.

This afternoon, Mike McCarthy announced that Green Bay Packers running back DuJuan Harris would be sent to injured reserve with issues related to the patellar tendon in his knee. Harris will be the second player on the 2013 roster sent to injured reserve, following wide receiver Sederrik Cunningham. But what of the other injured Packers? Here's what we know.

Tackle Bryan Bulaga

The Packers flipped Bulaga from right tackle to the left side, but just a few days into training camp he tore his ACL. All signs point to Bulaga being placed on injured reserve and shut down for the season, but the team has yet to make that determination.

PUP List players: Jerel Worthy, Derek Sherrod, Sean Richardson, JC Tretter

None of the four of these players have practiced during training camp, and all are eligible for the Physically Unable to Perform list. Worthy's injury came late last season, and it is likely a stretch for him to play at all in 2013. Sherrod continues to try to recover from a broken leg suffered against the Chiefs in 2011. Richardson was shut down after a bone fusion surgery in his neck at the end of the 2012 season, and he's been unable to make it back to the field. Finally, rookie offensive lineman JC Tretter broke an ankle on the first day of OTAs in the spring. In all cases, it seems likely that the Packers will put them on the PUP list and wait six weeks to re-evaluate their statuses.

Recent Hamstring Injuries: Morgan Burnett, Casey Hayward, Brad Jones

Burnett has been held out of practice since the third preseason game, when he tweaked his hamstring. It was described as a minor injury, but he has not seen the field since. Casey Hayward, who missed much of training camp on the PUP list with a hamstring injury of his own, reinjured the same hamstring last week and also has not practiced since. He most likely won't play on Thursday against Kansas City, and his status beyond then is in question. Starting inside linebacker Brad Jones is the third player to mess up a hamstring in that game, and he has already been ruled out for Thursday. He'll likely be re-evaluated over the weekend.

Also missing practice today:
WR Kevin Dorsey
CB James Nixon
CB Jarrett Bush

If the Packers place Bulaga on IR and the four active/PUP List players on the reserve/PUP list today, they'll still need to cut another three players to get down to the 75-man limit at 3:00 PM Central today.
