We knew the Packers had a move to make following last week's release of wide receiver/kick returner Jeremy Ross. After kicking the tires on a few kick returners, many assumed the team planned to add a returner to fill Ross' spot. Instead, the Packers have elected to sign Michael Hill, a running back from their practice squad.

Hill, a rookie out of Missouri Western State, spent most of the offseason with the San Diego Chargers. The Packers signed him to their practice squad on September 30th following his release.

More than anything else, Hill's addition raises questions about the status of James Starks, who left week 3's game with the Bengals with a knee injury. Because of the bye week, the team hasn't yet provided an update on his status. Hill's signing might be a signal that Starks could be unavailable for week 5 and beyond.

To fill Hill's spot on the practice squad, the Packers have signed receiver Reggie Dunn. A rookie out of Utah, Dunn is most notable for his return abilities. If Starks or another player on the 53 is placed on IR or released, Dunn would be a candidate to replace him. Expect the Packers to provide more information in the upcoming days.
