With round one of the Acme Packing Company mock draft in the books, it's time to move on to round two. Remaining on the board here are a few top prospects in the defensive secondary, including Calvin Pryor, Jimmie Ward, Jason Verrett, and others. We also see a few quarterbacks remaining in Derek Carr, Tom Savage, and Jimmy Garoppolo.
We'll switch gears here a bit and post six picks each day this week so we can get through the entire second round this week. We'll post them in batches of three picks twice per day. Leading off round two, as they did for round one, we find the Houston Texans, this time with our Dan Turczynski playing the role of their GM.
Pick #33: Houston Texans (Dan)
Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
Dan's comments:
After passing on Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall pick, the Texans get an athlete and an overall very versatile player who can play a number of different positions for new D-Coordinator Romeo Crennel.
Previous Selection:
1.1 Blake Bortles, quarterback, Central Florida
Pick #34: Washington Redskins (Aron)
Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville
Here's Aron's reasoning:
This is a good spot for Pryor in this draft. Ryan Clark should be able to help him improve for the starting gig at the start of next year.
Since they traded away their 1st-round pick to St. Louis, this is the Redskins first selection in this year's draft.
Pick #35: Cleveland Browns (Tex)
Ja'Wuan James, OT, Tennessee
Here is what I had to say on this pick:
After adding Manziel and Benjamin, the Browns need to protect them. James is the top tackle remaining on the board and should be solid opposite Joe Thomas.
Previous selections:
1.4 Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
1.26 Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
