APC Mock Draft, Picks 45-47: Lions Grab Easley, Joyner and Verrett Follow

As we continue on with the second round of the Acme Packing Company mock draft, we find that attention has shifted from offense to defense, at least for this trio of draft projections. The three teams in this batch (Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Dallas) all addressed defensive needs with their first-round picks and do so again in round two. #45: Detroit Lions (Dan)

Dominique Easley, defensive tackle, Florida

The Lions got the stud cornerback they so desperately needed with the 10th pick overall, at pick No. 48 they get a once highly regarded defensive linemen out of Florida, Dominique Easley. Easley was once believed to be a top 10 pick, but after suffering two ACL tears in consecutive years, the jurry is out on his football future. The Lions have told DT Nick Fairley they need more production out of him in 2014, by bringing in Easley that message reaches Fairley loud and clear.

#46 Pittsburgh Steelers (Aron)

Lamarcus Joyner, defensive back, Florida State

The Steelers will be fixing a lot on the defensive side of the ball due to age. Joyner could play safety as well with Ryan Clark leaving for Washington and Troy Polamalu declining.

#47 Dallas Cowboys (Tex)

Jason Verrett, cornerback, Texas Christian University

Verrett falling this far would be a surprise, and a welcome one for a Cowboys defense that desperately needs help in the secondary. Verrett might very well be able to supplant the disappointing Morris Claiborne as the starter on day 1.
