We have two more posts to go to cover the second round of our 2014 Mock Draft here at Acme Packing Company, and we're well into the playoff teams in round two.
Here, we find a few of our personal favorite prospects come off the board, including a pair of defensive backs who we were hoping would last a little longer into round three.
#58: New Orleans Saints (Aron)
Pierre Desir, cornerback, Lindenwood
It's tempting for the Saints to take a receiver here with some going off the board in the round, but getting a young corner for Champ Bailey to help groom into a potential starter here helps more.
Previous selection:
1.27 Ryan Shazier, linebacker, Ohio State
#59: Indianapolis Colts (Evan)
Deone Bucannon, safety, Washington State
With no first-round pick, the Colts will have a dilemma here in round 2 - improve the secondary or the offensive line? With Antoine Bethea gone in free agency, Bucannon seems to be an ideal fit at strong safety.
No previous selections (traded first-round pick to Cleveland)
#60: Carolina Panthers (Brendan)
Donte Moncrief, wide receiver, Ole Miss
The Panthers' depleted wide receiver corps finally gets a boost in round two. Moncrief has the size and speed to develop into a game-changing wide receiver, and possesses skills that none of the Panthers' current veteran receivers do.
Previous selection:
1.28 Cyrus Kouandjio, offensive tackle, Alabama
