Packers or Wisconsin Connections

Green Bay has lost to the 49ers twice in the 2013 season, first in Week 1 and again in the Wild-Card round. Seattle won the last time the teams played, the infamous Fail Mary game in 2012.

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick grew up in southeastern Wisconsin. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson played his final year of college football at the University of Wisconsin, where he set the Badger record for most passing touchdowns in a season and the FBS record for highest passing efficiency. Seahawks safety Chris Maragos and linebacker O'Brien Schofield also played college football at Wisconsin.

Two Seahawks players are former Green Bay Packers: starting right tackle Breno Giacomini and punter Jon Ryan. Seattle General Manager John Schneider formerly worked in the Packers' front office under GM Ted Thompson. There are no former Packers on the 49ers' roster.
