Everyone's favorite All-Star game has finally arrived. The Pro Bowl is on tonight! You can feel the excitement in the air around the NFL. Oh wait. Maybe that's not excitement. Maybe it's the other thing...apathy. Anyway, the game will be on TV tonight, so if you can't find anything else to watch and your DVD player is broken, might as well flip over and see what's going on.
As for the format of the game, it's an exhibition football game, which is to say that there will be virtually no tackling, the quarterbacks won't be touched, and basically everything will be going at half-speed. It's like the league is trying to make it a pickup football game, but won't go all the way and remove the pads and helmets. As SBNation's David Roth says:
If the NFL decided that the Pro Bowl should be played like a pickup football game -- with a keg on the sidelines, maybe, and players wearing no equipment at all, calling their own penalties and playing the sort of goonish tackle or two-hand-touch people play in parks -- it would probably be a blast to watch.
In any case, feel free to use this as your open thread if anyone out there is actually going to watch the Pro Bowl. Yay football?
