While the Packers prepare for their Thursday night showdown with Minnesota, important news regarding next year's draft surfaced courtesy of Yahoo! Sports NFL insider Rand Getlin.

According to Getlin, the NFL has awarded the draft to Chicago. The city was one of three cities (Los Angeles and New York being the others) that the league considered for hosting the annual player selection event.

For many years, the league held the draft at Radio City Music Hall in New York, but decided that the event might work better if the location were flexible. Indeed, once word spread that the NFL was open to new locals, even Green Bay, WI threw its hat into the ring.

For now, though, Chicago will host the event. For Packers fans (or bloggers!) hoping to attend the draft, it's a much easier trip than to New York.
