The Green Bay Packers moved one step closer to completing its full roster, adding second-year player Joe Kruger to the practice squad.
Kruger, a 6'6" 290 pound defensive end, was a seventh-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. Kruger spent his rookie season on injured reserve. He used the year to build up his body, going from 269 pounds to his current weight. After Kruger failed to make the final cut in Philadelphia this year, the San Diego Chargers signed him to their practice squad. He was again released four days later.
The signing pushes Green Bay's practice squad to nine members. The Packers, who tried out a cavalcade of free agents on Monday, can still add another player if they so choose.
Kruger is also noteworthy for being the younger brother of Cleveland Browns' edge rusher Paul Kruger. The elder Kruger spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens before signing with Cleveland in 2013.
