Welcome to Wednesday, as the Green Bay Packers will continue their OTA practices today, but will do so behind closed doors. In today's curds we find some quotes from Packers players during their media availability this week, but the big subject today is Sam Shields, who re-signed with the Packers for a big four-year, $39 million contract just before free agency opened in March.

Also in the news from around the league is another season-ending injury to a key NFC linebacker and a young Houston Texans player who will have the support and thoughts of fans from around the league as he fights his recently-diagnosed cancer.

Indeed - I'd rather see #37 in Green and Gold rather than Brown and Orange, as apparently Cleveland was prepared to make a serious run at Shields to play opposite Joe Haden. Instead, they ended up drafting cornerback Justin Gilbert 8th overall.

It's not about the Packers directly, but Greg Bedard draws significant parallels between Baalke and Ted Thompson.

Trying to guess what year it was: I'll give you a hint: we got the best player in that year's draft with the 26th overall pick (Clay Matthews).

Sean Lee and now Sean Weatherspoon? I guess I'm glad that none of the Packers' linebackers are named Sean.

Our thoughts are with Quessenberry for a successful fight. He's got a great attitude and we at APC wish him the best of luck in his treatment.
