Lede? Who needs a lede?

Fine. How about Jerel Worthy being traded? That's a little crazy, right? Well, Packers' GM Ted Thompson will be speaking this morning before practice, and he's sure to get asked about the Worthy trade. Then we've got the last open practice of the week and a Mike McCarthy presser afterwards.

As for today's curds, we've got a look at a bunch of players who are off to slow starts in the first preseason game (or no starts at all), and one reserve who made the most of his first extended playing time in over two years. Get clicking!

Remember the name Ryan McMahon? Yeah, that's the class of player that the Packers had fighting for a primary backup safety spot last year. Now we've got players with a year or two of experience and a first-round draft pick instead.

Green Bay Packers tackle Derek Sherrod takes a big step - ESPN
That big step involved playing 45 snaps on Saturday against Tennessee (and playing extremely well). Barring injury or a major drop in his performance, Sherrod appears to be a lock to make the team at this point.

'We'll see about that' | ESPN Wisconsin
Julius Peppers isn't concerned about his lackluster performance in the first preseason game, saying "It's a start. We'll play a little bit more this week and see if we can get a little better this week"
