Packers vs. Titans Preseason 2014 Game Thread

Join the APC family to discuss the events of today's preseason opener.

Tom Lynn

It's finally here! The Green Bay Packers are playing football, and not just against each other, but against another real-live NFL team. Today marks the first preseason game of the 2014 season, and the Pack is in Nashville to play the Tennessee Titans.

Expect the backups to get a lot of action this week, as Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, and company have little to prove to the coaching staff. This will be the first chance for Mike McCarthy, Ted Thompson, and company to get a look at their nine-man draft class (minus fifth-round WR Jared Abbrederis, of course) and their group of undrafted free agent signings.

A few players to keep a close eye on today on offense include backup offensive linemen Derek Sherrod and Lane Taylor. Both of them will be counted on to back up multiple positions in the wake of Don Barclay's injury.

On defense, the secondary will be looked at closely, as safety Sean Richardson has had a "hell of a training camp" according to Mike McCarthy. This will also be the first NFL game action for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and the first snaps for Micah Hyde at safety. On the defensive line, a large group of unheralded free agent signings will have opportunities to shine, as will rookie linebackers Adrian Hubbard and Carl Bradford.
