Packers head coach Mike McCarthy originally called JC Tretter's knee injury would keep him out multiple weeks. Now we know exactly how long Green Bay's starting center will be out.
According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, the Packers will stash Tretter for the first half of the season on the injured reserve:
The #Packers have indeed placed C JC Tretter on the short-term injured reserve list, per a source. Should show up on transactions today.

Unless he falls on his face, rookie Corey Linsley will take Tretter's place on the starting offensive line. Should he falter, the Packers have worked both Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang at center with Lane Taylor shifting in at guard. Demovsky has since reported that center Garth Gerhart has been activated from the practice squad to fill Tretter's place on the 53.
