Let's face it: the Pro Bowl is a silly event and only barely resembles NFL football. What might be more interesting than the game itself is the Pro Bowl Draft, when team leaders and Hall of Famers Cris Carter and Michael Irvin select their two teams for the league's annual exhibition.
On Tuesday, the pair began the draft process by picking first the team captains and then the big uglies - the offensive linemen were assigned, along with the defensive tackles, fullbacks, and special teams players.
With Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray available as one of the captains, it's no surprise that former Cowboy Michael Irvin chose him (along with Browns cornerback Joe Haden) as his captains. That left Cris Carter to choose J.J. Watt and Antonio Brown (the poor guy).
As for rooting interest in the game, if there is such a thing, team Carter should have the lead for Packers fans. He selected both of the Packers who were drafted on Tuesday, fullback John Kuhn and guard Josh Sitton.
Packers players whose teams will be assigned tonight include wide receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, linebacker Clay Matthews, and cornerback Sam Shields. Here are the details for tonight's Pro Bowl Draft if you plan on tuning in.
