Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy canceled his season-ending press conference Wednesday morning due to a personal matter affecting the coaching staff. After hours of uncertainty, we now know the reason behind the 11. a.m. cancellation: A death in the family.

According to CBS Pittsburgh, McCarthy's younger brother, Joe McCarthy, passed away this morning at the age of 47 after collapsing at a local gym. Joe ran his own law firm, McCarthy & Associates, LLC, in the Pittsburgh area and previously worked as a state Deputy Attorney General.  An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. No funeral arrangements have been announced yet.

Growing up, McCarthy spent a lot of time working with his younger brother in their father's tavern. The two also played sports together. The news comes mere days after McCarthy's Packers lost in shocking fashion to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC title game.

We send our condolences to McCarthy and his family.
