Over each of the past two weeks, the Green Bay Packers have been without safety Morgan Burnett and Davante Adams on gameday, as the two starters have been dealing with injuries to a calf and an ankle, respectively.
As of Saturday afternoon in week 5, it appears that both players will miss the upcoming game with the St. Louis Rams because of those injuries.
On Saturday, the Packers downgraded both players from Questionable to Doubtful, as they were both held out of practice once again. The team's walkthrough practice on Saturday has frequently led to changes in injury status this season, but this adjustment was widely expected; neither player has practiced since week 3, when both ended up being ruled out against the Chiefs on gameday.
We doubt that either player will participate on Sunday, which means substantial snaps for Micah Hyde in Burnett's place and Chris Banjo should get some snaps as the third safety. For Adams, Ty Montgomery should continue to see significant snaps on offense.
There were a few other changes to the injury report on Saturday, as a pair of cornerbacks had some new injuries flare up. Starter Sam Shields is now listed as Probable with a toe issue, while rookie LaDarius Gunter is also Probable due to a problem with his heel. Both players are expected to be available for Sunday, however.
Keep it here, as we'll bring you news of the inactive players on gameday as soon as they are announced, likely about 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.
