Mike McCarthy: Our defense was the key to our victory

The Packers defense picked off Nick Foles four times on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy spoke with the media following his team's 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams. Here are some highlights:

Opening statement:

I'm excited to be at 5-0, good team win today. Our defense was the key to our victory with the key plays and pressure. The turnovers were huge and the closing one there with Quinten Rollins. A lot to learn from, some things to clean up. Scrappy, a lot of adversity, but heck, it's great to get these wins.

On his team's confidence:

We're getting better, but let's be honest, we're banged up. We have a big seven days ahead of us and we need to get healthy. This is a big win with the San Diego Chargers coming in here.

The fact that you can win games in all three phases, that's the goal. We're not there yet. That's the stuff that we've got to clean up. The communication wasn't the cleanest. Just a lot of things that don't show up on the stat sheet that don't appear.

How would you rate this defense?

I don't know, we've played five games. I think there's some things we've improved on. We have a chance to be a really good defense but we're only five games into it.

How do you think your guys played against Todd Gurley?

I thought he did a heck of a job, and that we started really strong. There's some things they did well — the big run — but 30 touches says a lot.

How remarkable was Aaron Rodgers' interception streak?

I think as you look back, history will be very kind and respectful and acknowledge that streak. I've never seen anything like that.

On Bryan Bulaga:

Nothing better than getting a sweaty hug from an offensive tackle. I think he looks good.

Anything on T.J. Lang and B.J. Raji?

I haven't been in the training room yet, no updates.
