Packers injury report: Sam Shields downgraded to doubtful

Green Bay expects to take the field without their top cornerback on Sunday.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

It looks increasingly unlikely that the Green Bay Packers will have the services of their top cornerback when the team takes the field against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Green Bay downgraded Sam Shields to doubtful Saturday, as the corner's shoulder continues to bother him. The team expects rookie Quinten Rollins, who suffered a neck injury last weekend in Denver, to join him on the sideline. The injuries leave Casey Hayward, Micah Hyde, Damarious Randall, Demetri Goodson and LaDarius Gunter as the only healthy cornerbacks in the Packers' stable.

The right side of the offensive line has also shown up on the injury report. Guard T.J. Lang apparently has an illness, but should still play in Sunday's game. The same goes for offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga, who has a knee injury. If something changes with either, expect Josh Walker and Don Barclay to fill in respectively.

Here is the complete injury report:

PROBABLE

  • OT Bryan Bulaga (knee)
  • G T.J. Lang (illness)
  • LB Clay Matthews (ankle/knee)
  • LB Nick Perry (shoulder/hand)
  • FB Aaron Ripkowski (illness)

QUESTIONABLE

  • LB Mike Neal (hip)

DOUBTFUL

  • WR Ty Montgomery (ankle)
  • CB Quinten Rollins (neck)
  • CB Sam Shields (shoulder)
