Early this afternoon, the Green Bay Packers will take the field against the Carolina Panthers as the top two teams in the NFC square off to stake their claim as the best team in the conference. The 6-1 Packers are coming in fresh off an embarrassing loss to the Denver Broncos last Sunday night, while the Panthers moved to 7-0 with an overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday.
In today's game, Green Bay will look to get its struggling offense back on track. After averaging 32 points per game over the first three weeks of the season, the Packers have put up just 19.5 on average in the past four contests. Perhaps a worse trend is that the defense has allowed 500 or more total yards in each of the last two games.
The Panthers, on the other hand, have scored at least 20 points in every game this season and sit at 4th in the NFL with an average of 27.3 per game. They are doing so with a potent rushing attack which averages 144 yards per game, best in the league.
