As we inch ever-closer to the NFL Scouting Combine, mock drafts and positional rankings are one of the top topics around the league. This week, NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock released his first set of rankings, and a few of them might surprise you a bit.

Still, in the midst of all the talk about the future of the league, Packers fans still find one of the team's legends in the news, as more details and comments about Brett Favre's jersey retirement and Packers Hall of Fame induction ceremony have come out.

We have all that and more in today's curds, plus one exciting announcement: Acme Packing Company will be on site in Indianapolis during media days next week for the NFL Scouting Combine! Thompson, McCarthy set combine appearances |
Though Mike McCarthy has a press conference scheduled for noon central today (which we'll be covering via webcast), both he and Ted Thompson will be speaking to the media on Thursday during next week's Scouting Combine.

Well, at least Favre's comments about the induction taking place on the field at Lambeau aren't out of the blue - Packers Hall of Fame president Perry Kidder says that some discussions have been going on for a little while now about the venue for that event.

This is a pretty great story, as Favre recalls when then-Falcons offensive coordinator June Jones called him to tell him about the trade.

Early look at the top free agents for 2015 - ESPN
Randall Cobb ranks sixth on this list. ESPN's scout, however, expresses exactly the kinds of concerns that Cobb that makes us think that he won't get a Jordy-like deal.

Mock Draft Survey Has Packers Taking Miami LB Denzel Perryman in Round One | Cheesehead TV
After looking up the results of over 100 mock drafts, Perryman was the most frequent pick for the Packers in round one. Certainly that pick would be an effort to shore up the inside linebacker position, though there are some concerns about Perryman's height.

Jameis Winston, Melvin Gordon top Mike Mayock's 2015 NFL Draft position rankings -
Mayock actually puts TCU's Paul Dawson at the top of his rankings at inside linebacker. He also has a bit of a surprise at wide receiver, with West Virginia's Kevin White ahead of Amari Cooper from Alabama.
