The Packers surprised many when they selected Montgomery, a wide receiver from Stanford, with the 94th overall pick earlier in May. Green Bay's receiving corps was already viewed as one of the deepest in the league, and adding a 6'0", 216 pound player that the team referred to as a larger version of Randall Cobb should only intensify the competition during training camp and the preseason.
Montgomery also figures to battle for a prominent role on returns. For his career at Stanford, he averaged 27.4 yards per kickoff return and 19.8 on punts. Montgomery brought back two punts for touchdowns last season and has a total of five return touchdowns for his college career.
With Montgomery signed, first-round selection Damarious Randall becomes the lone remaining unsigned Packers draft pick.
