The Green Bay Packers are getting ready for another business trip, as their second road game of the year approaches. Whereas their week one game in Chicago was just a short 180-mile trip, Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California is almost exactly 10 times that distance - about 1,800 miles as the crow flies.
Crossing two time zones and nearly 2,000 miles is a tough task to undertake the day before a game, so Mike McCarthy has some plans for how to handle that this weekend. We've got news of those plans, plus a breakdown of some more major news items to come out of Monday Night's win over Kansas City, all compiled for you in today's curds.
Packers' young players answering the call | Packers.com
Ty Montgomery, Joe Thomas, Jayrone Elliott, and Jeff Janis all made noticeable contributions against the Chiefs.
Joe Thomas allows Clay Matthews to rush the quarterback | 247sports.com
The return of Thomas gave Dom Capers an alternate option to Matthews as the dime linebacker, and gave Matthews significant snaps on the outside as the Chiefs were forced to pass early and often on Monday.
Andrew Quarless sprains knee, out of action for at least a month | JSOnline.com
Quarless' injury is similar to that of Bryan Bulaga's, and should keep him out 4-6 weeks. Kennard Backman will likely be active on gamedays now, but the question is whether or not Quarless will stay on the active roster with Letroy Guion expected to be reactivated this week.
Room for improvement | ESPN Wisconsin
Mike McCarthy isn't fully satisfied, as he says there are "corrections that need to be made." Three weeks into the season, that should come as no surprise, but the fourth quarter film from Monday will not be very pretty to watch and grade.
Green Bay Packers to travel to California a day early - ESPN
The Packers have to make four trips west this year, since they play both the NFC and AFC West divisions. This week, they're heading to California on Friday instead of after their usual Saturday practice.
2016 NFL Draft top 50: Joey Bosa, Robert Nkemdiche top big board - SBNation.com
I'm trying not to imagine Nkemdiche playing the 5-technique spot on the Packers' base 3-man line because it's not going to happen, but it's just too much fun to think about.
The Bears are in rebuilding mode 3 games into the season - SBNation.com
Why are the Bears trading linebackers like they're going out of style? Both Jared Allen and Jon Bostic just got flipped for low draft picks.
