Though Jared Abbrederis' pursuit of a 53-man roster spot fell short, the wide receiver will remain in Green Bay. According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, the Packers have signed Abbrederis to their practice squad.
Since the Packers selected him in the fifth-round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Abbrederis has participated in only a handful of practices and one exhibition game, the team's preseason finale this past Thursday. An ACL tear his rookie season an a severe concussion on the first day of training camp this year have kept the former Wisconsin Badger wideout off the field. However, the team remains optimistic about Abbrederis' future despite his setbacks. When healthy, Abbrederis can serve as both a pass catcher and kick returner.
With Abbrederis returning, the Packers now have six total receivers between their 53-man roster and the practice squad. He could earn a promotion to the team's active roster should an injury befall Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, Ty Montgomery, Jeff Janis or Myles White.
