APC Mock Draft 2016: Packers land ILB Joshua Perry in round two

It's an inside linebacker before day three of the draft! At least, that's what we're projecting for Green Bay in our 2016 mock.

Acme Packing Company's 2016 mock draft continues on with round two, which will be released over the course of this week. The rules were simple: seven authors were assigned four or five teams apiece, and made the picks for each of those teams whenever they came up. We will pick the first three rounds of the draft. (Also, note that our picks were made prior to the trade between the LA Rams and Tennessee Titans for the first pick.)

The Green Bay Packers are second up in today's picks, and one player who might have intrigued them goes off the board just one slot in front of them to Seattle. Read on and let us know what you think about our projection for the Packers' second pick.

2.25 (#56 overall): Seattle Seahawks select DL Chris Jones, Mississippi State

Seattle gets a mammoth of a man for the interior of their defensive line with this pick. The 6'6", 310-pound Jones will slot in at defensive tackle and gives the Seahawks' defense yet another explosive athlete on the line. Combining this pick with a first-round cornerback just makes the Legion of Boom more impressive.

2.26 (#57): Green Bay Packers select ILB Joshua Perry, Ohio State

Jon Barnett: Green Bay has waited and they get their inside linebacker now. Perry is fast and has the size to play in the run game. He falls here because he is going to need some transition time to get into the 3-4 scheme and improve his run pursuit discipline. Coachable guy who steps in and has the speed to play all three downs. Tall, big and with good speed, he will be valuable in the middle against tight ends and will quickly grow into a run stopper and a blitzer.

2.27 (#58): Pittsburgh Steelers select CB Xavien Howard, Baylor

Jason B. Hirschhorn: As they generally do, the Steelers passed on a corner in the first round. They probably cannot afford to ignore the position any longer. Xavien Howard possesses the athleticism Pittsburgh favors in the secondary, though doesn't always play to his stature. Still, for a team that felt the loss of Ike Taylor in 2015, taking Howard here makes sense.

2.28 (#59): Kansas City Chiefs select ILB Scooby Wright III, Arizona

Jake Hyman: After botching the first Kansas City pick (thanks to the Chiefs extending running backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware just hours after the selection went in), Kansas City goes high-risk by selecting Scooby Wright III. Wright was a menace defensively as a sophomore, totaling 164 total tackles and 15.0 sacks. His knee injury was a bummer, considering he was expected to be one of the top juniors in the nation.

Wright could have been a top-15 talent if healthy, but the Chiefs would be ecstatic to see him fall to the second round. He's a dynamic talent and athlete, with major upside at the linebacker position.
