Packers Injury Report: Shields not through concussion protocol, Rollins returns to practice

New, comments

One cornerback was working again today, while the other practiced but still has not been given full clearance yet.

The Green Bay Packers continue to get healthier little by little each day this week as they prepare for the Arizona Cardinals. During Thursday's practice, Mike McCarthy's squad got one player back who had missed practice on Wednesday - rookie cornerback Quinten Rollins - and reportedly got a good performance in practice from fellow corner Sam Shields.

Unfortunately, when the team was made available in the locker room to reporters after practice, Shields was not there. As the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Michael Cohen notes, this was because he had not yet fully passed the NFL's concussion protocol at that time.

Shields still could complete the protocol at any point between now and when Saturday's inactives list is announced, so there is still hope that he will be able to play in this weekend's game. However, his status continues to require monitoring.

As for Rollins, he was back practicing on a limited basis after missing Wednesday, the only change to the injury report on Thursday. Rollins injured a quadriceps muscle during Sunday's game in Washington and was replaced by LaDarius Gunter. As expected, wide receiver Davante Adams remained out during Thursday's practice as he deals with a sprained MCL, which further suggests that he will indeed be inactive.

Here's the full report from Thursday.
