On Sunday, four Green Bay Packers and the team's coaching staff will participate in the 2016 Pro Bowl, the celebration of the league's "best" players. According to Pro Football Talk, 22 players have backed out of the game due to nagging injury concerns, while another 14 are on the two teams playing in the Super Bowl next week, meaning that a whopping 36 replacement players have been named to the game.
Two Packers are among the replacements, while one, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, was excused from the game for an injury. We learned last night that this injury was due to knee surgery that Rodgers underwent shortly after the season wrapped up. Another person who had to back out was Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Although the Green Bay coaching staff is handling one of the teams this week, McCarthy did not travel due to a stomach illness.
This year's Pro Bowl captains were Hall of Fame wide receivers Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin, who selected their teams earlier this week.
Here are all the details for Sunday's game.
