On October 16th, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a concussion in the Packers’ game against the Dallas Cowboys and was forced to leave the game. With the Packers having a quick turnaround before their next game - just three days off before a Thursday night game against the Chicago Bears - many people assumed that Adams would miss that contest and try to return in time for this coming week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Instead, Adams was cleared to play on Thursday and put up the game of his life. He was targeted 16 times against Chicago, catching 13 of those passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Adams was just one catch shy of the Packers’ single-game record in that game.
That performance has now earned Adams a league honor, as he was named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week:

Adams becomes the first Packer to earn such an honor since Aaron Rodgers. The Packers’ quarterback took home the honor after the Packers’ 38-28 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in week 3 of the 2015 season. In that game, Rodgers went 24-35 for 333 yards and five touchdowns.
After just six games, Adams has nearly matched his career highs in production for a single season. Last year, he caught 50 passes for 483 yards; this season, he already has 28 receptions and 350 yards. He has already set a new career high with five touchdown receptions, surpassing his previous high of three (set in 2014).
Adams currently ranks second on the team in both receptions and receiving yards behind Randall Cobb, and he is tied with Jordy Nelson for the team lead in touchdowns. Adams also leads the team with a 12.5 yards per reception average.
