The Green Bay Packers will have their hands full defending Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, but they have had all week to prepare for the absence of a pair of top cornerbacks this Sunday. What is more of a surprise is that a few of Green Bay’s own top offensive threats are going to sit out today’s game.
The first of those places is Randall Cobb, whose hamstring injury limited him in practice all week. Reports surfaced early this morning that the team was planning to sit Cobb to help with his recovery, but the decision was not official until the release of the team’s gameday inactive list, which was just announced.
Cobb is indeed on that inactive list, joined by the four players who were listed as out on Friday’s injury report. In addition, linebacker Clay Matthews will not be able to suit up despite his own hamstring injury and wide receiver Ty Montgomery will also be sitting out today's game after being limited for much of the week due to an illness.
For the Falcons, the one significant contributor missing today’s game is running back Tevin Coleman, who is dealing with a hamstring issue as well. Pass-rusher Dwight Freeney was a gameday decision, but he will play for Atlanta today.
Here are the full inactive lists.
