You can be forgiven if this week’s college football schedule fails to excite you too much. On Saturday, we have just two games between ranked teams, and one of those barely qualifies as it is a 24-25 game.
Instead, most of the teams in the top ten of the College Football Playoff rankings face conference foes who are less than impressive. In fact, only one of the top five teams in the country faces an opponent with a conference record over .500 - that’s #4 Washington, who plays in the best game of the weekend against #20 USC (6-3, 5-2 in the Pac-12). The opponents for the rest of the top five have a combined 9-13 record in the teams’ respective conferences, with a 19-17 combined record overall.
In other words, the top teams should in theory be able to take care of business this week, and we will probably need to wait another week for any significant turmoil at the top.
Here’s your college football schedule and comment thread for today.
