The Green Bay Packers will be in our nation’s capital this weekend to take on Washington in a rematch of last year’s NFC Wild Card matchup. In that contest, Aaron Rodgers threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions and the Packers’ running backs each picked up more than 50 yards on the ground plus a touchdown as Green Bay advanced with a 35-18 victory.
On Sunday Night Football this week, the two teams come in on very different trajectories. The Packers are losers of three straight games, including two in a row to AFC South teams who finished last season and are currently either at or below .500. Meanwhile, Washington enters at 5-3-1, having defeated the Minnesota Vikings a week ago. Furthermore, they are 5-1-1 in their last seven games after starting out 0-2.
The Packers got picked apart by Marcus Mariota and tight end Delanie Walker a week ago, and undoubtedly some of APC’s contributors see Washington tight end Jordan Reed as an even tougher matchup for the defense on Sunday. Still, there is some optimism that the Packers can right the ship - at least for one day - and earn their first win in a month.
Here are our predictions for this week’s games.
