The newest member of the Green Bay Packers is in town and practicing. That individual is running back Christine Michael, who was just claimed on waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. Michael apparently passed his physical exam upon his arrival on Thursday, because he was suited up and participating in practice.
If you’re a natural skeptic and follow the “pics or it didn’t happen” philosophy, here you go:
The Packers also are working on a couple of packages to get their newest addition involved in the offense, possibly as soon as this Sunday in Washington. This would make him a welcome addition with Ty Montgomery missing practice on Wednesday due to an illness - though apparently that issue is not related to the sickle-cell trait that has limited him in recent weeks.
On Thursday, however, Montgomery was back as a full participant in practice, suggesting that he should be full-go on Sunday. Joining him as a full participant was defensive back Micah Hyde, who was limited yesterday. Other than those two, the Packers’ Thursday participation list was identical to that of Wednesday’s - one of the welcome continuations is that tight end Jared Cook is still practicing fully, meaning he should be active and available on Sunday after missing the past six games.
Another player who is likely to return is Clay Matthews, who was limited on Thursday. However, the Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Ryan Wood indicated that Matthews “spoke as though he’s expecting to play,” which would be a nice boost for an outside linebacker unit that has struggled mightily without him.
Here’s the full injury list for Thursday.
