The Green Bay Packers suddenly found themselves in a tough position with their running backs in Thursday’s practice as Mike McCarthy’s squad prepared for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. One of the team’s two quarterbacks, one of two fullbacks, and all three running backs were either limited in practice on Thursday or did not practice at all.
At the running back position, James Starks remains in the concussion protocol after his car collision earlier this week as he continues to try to work back onto the field. Ty Montgomery was downgraded from a full participant on Wednesday to limited on Thursday, but that meant he was the only tailback practicing at all - Christine Michael was held out of practice entirely due to an illness.
As a result, Michael is listed as Questionable on this week’s injury report while Starks is Doubtful as of Friday. However, Montgomery is not listed on the report despite his limited status on Thursday.
The other members of the backfield who are in question are fullback Aaron Ripkowski, who was limited also on Thursday, and starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Meanwhile, the Bears have ruled a pair of wide receivers out for Sunday’s game, while a trio of key defensive players are Questionable.
Here are the injury reports for the two teams as of Friday.
