Today, Bowl games begin around college football as teams start to wrap up their 2016 seasons over the next several weeks. On Saturday, the top game takes place in Sin City, as a pair of three-loss teams match up in the Las Vegas bowl.
The 9-3 Houston Cougars come in with an interim coach after head coach Tom Herman left to take the job at Texas. After upsetting a pair of top-five teams in Oklahoma and Louisville this year, Houston fell to Navy, SMU, and Memhis, all on the road. Meanwhile, San Diego State comes in at 10-3 with running back Donnel Pumphrey, who is trying to become the FBS All-time rushing leader (according to the official record book).
Wisconsin football fans will believe that any record he sets should come with an asterisk, however, as Ron Dayne’s current rushing record does not include his bowl stats. The NCAA started counting bowl statistics in the all-time records in 2002, but they did not go back and include bowl stats for players who played prior to that year.
In any case, here’s your bowl schedule and open thread for today, and stay tuned for our one NFL game coming up this evening as well.
