Texans-Packers Week 13 Injury Report: Aaron Rodgers & 3 ILBs all questionable

Green Bay should have one or more of their injured inside linebackers back on the field this Sunday, but which one(s) are still to be determined.

The Green Bay Packers have rolled out a revolving door of players at the inside linebacker position over the past few weeks. With starters Jake Ryan and Blake Martinez sidelined, the reins fell to Joe Thomas, Clay Matthews, and even safety Morgan Burnett to bolster the interior of the defense these last few games.

This week, the Packers are hoping to get one or both of those starters back, as well as Matthews - who injured his shoulder on a hit during Monday night’s game in Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, this week’s injury report gives us no certainty about any of those three players, as each one of that trio were listed as Questionable for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. However, Mike McCarthy sounded optimistic about the chances of the three of them all playing on Friday morning; in his press conference, he said that in Thursday’s practice Matthews “did everything”, Ryan “did what he was supposed to do,” and Martinez “did more” than expected. That’s a good sign for a group that urgently needs its key players back on the field.

Regardless, Matthews and the young linebackers are not the headliners on this week’s injury report. That distinction goes to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is listed on the final report for the first time this year. He is designated as Questionable as well, due to the hamstring injury that he suffered on Monday night against the Eagles.

Rodgers returned to the game after that injury, following a brief stint in the mystery sideline tent. He also practiced on Thursday, though he was kept on a somewhat limited rep count.
