Vikings-Packers Inactives: Randall Cobb will sit out, but Nick Perry is back in the lineup

Green Bay loses one key contributor today, but gains one of their best defensive players.

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

There is good news and bad news on the inactives list for the Green Bay Packers today as they prepare to play the Minnesota Vikings.

The good news? Outside linebacker Nick Perry is returning to the lineup after missing the last two games. Perry practiced in a limited fashion all week, and will likely wear a club on his hand today. However, Perry has been the Packers’ most consistent outside linebacker all season and is the best player on the team in terms of setting the edge against the run.

The bad news? Wide receiver Randall Cobb is inactive. Cobb was on last week’s injury report for an ankle injury as well, and was virtually a non-factor in the Packers’ win over the Bears. It appears that the injury continued to get worse this week, and the Packers will lean on Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams in his stead. Wide receiver Trevor Davis is active today as well, and he may take up a portion of Cobb’s snaps.

For Minnesota, safety Harrison Smith and receiver Stefon Diggs were both listed as questionable on Friday but both are active and will play today. Smith’s return in particular is a big boost for the middle of the Vikings’ defense, which has been struggling without him.

Here are the full inactive lists for both teams.
