The Green Bay Packers now have five preseason games on their docket for 2016. On Tuesday, the team announced a matchup with the Indianapolis Colts for the Hall of Fame Game in Canton on Aug. 7.
Most expected the Packers to end up in the annual preseason opener given that former quarterback Brett Favre headlines the 2016 Hall of Fame class. The Colts became an obvious opponent once their former head coach Tony Dungy and wide receiver Marvin Harrison earned induction into the Hall as well. The tilt takes place at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Packers last played in the Hall of Fame game in 2003 when the former wideout James Lofton entered the hall. Thunderstorms cut short that game, which ended in the third quarter.
Though the starters shouldn't expect to play many snaps during the game, it serves as a preview of Green Bay's regular season duel with Indy. The date for that tilt, along with the rest of the NFL schedule, is expected to come out in April.
